One of the things I love about sewing is designing my own wardrobe. I can create things to wear that are otherwise unavailable to me. But when I’m selecting my next sewing project, I often limit myself to items that would be most practical. Unfortunate but pragmatic. I work full time so my professional wardrobe supercedes street wear. Knits, cardigans, black pants, and simple shirts are my wardrobe staples. Solid colors and layered neutrals tend to dominate. Doesn’t it make sense to fill my closet with these items?
But if I sewed the things I really want to wear, I would have a whole lot more fun! I love feminine and classic styles with vintage influences and whimsical touches. I love structured and tailored looks mixed with a lil’ bit o’ boho. I want plaids, florals, and stripes with leather, lace, and fringe.
Lena Hoschek’s designs embody everything I love. Her SS16 and FW16 collections inspire me to make more of the things I really want to wear!
Check out some of my favorite images from her SS16 line “En Provence.” Loving the Swedish Hasbeens! Click on the photos below for details. Double click to enlarge.
